60 Series Detroit Engine Reviews Cracked Once TheyThat fixed isssues for approx.30,000 miles then the blowby tube was full of muck,took oil sample,was coolant,then they found head cracked Once they go the engine back together,they dynoed and it made no power,they put 6 injectors in it,Now its been fine for 35,000 miles and there is muck in the blowby tube and dipstick tube again:bdh taking oil sample nowWTF,anybody know much about these Thanks.
I know enough to know not to buy one.sounds like you should replace it with a yellow or red motor. Fabricator welder. Not saving anything in fuel,its down every week and our N14 gets better mileage I would rather put up with this sh than own a CAT,but if the oil sample is ugly its going down the road,sad in a decent truck but tired of the BS:bang. Was in for warranty work so much he tried and tried to make it totally detonate so they would just replace it. Finally gave up and traded it for a W9 with a Cat, then bought an ISX which had liner problems, now he owns another Cat.:toytruck My N14 was a turd, but another friend had one that was awesome. Lots of fleets dumped the S-60s after EGR, they are trouble, where the non-EGR S-60 is nearly bullet-proof. CAT is running from the customers, dealers are lucky to get 50 of a claim paid and Cummins isnt far behind. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Im not saying Cummins doesnt build good stuff but the ISX isnt their best work. Just do some searching and youll find most posts regarding Caterpillar are high HP and performance related. I dont see any posts about 800-1000hp ISXs, authough I guess they could be buried in between all the EGR and poor performance threads. Even Detroit threads about about general maintenance or fuel economy improvements. ![]() Hey just a thought, since you obviously despise anything other than Cummins why do you work at a KW dealer Wouldnt it make more since to work at a Cummins specific shop Then you could be as giddy as a school girl everyday getting to work on your beloved C.
